Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Dough

  • 4 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick)
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 1/3 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

Butter Glaze

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  2. Make the Biscuit Dough: In a large bowl, combine the baking mix, grated cheddar cheese, buttermilk, melted butter, Old Bay seasoning, and garlic powder. Stir everything together until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Shape the Biscuits: Using a scoop or spoon, form balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart to allow for spreading during baking.
  4. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the biscuits for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top.
  5. Prepare the Butter Glaze: While the biscuits are baking, mix together the remaining melted butter with Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, dried parsley, onion powder, and salt in a small bowl.
  6. Brush Biscuits: Once the biscuits are baked and golden, remove them from the oven and immediately brush generously with the prepared butter glaze to infuse them with extra flavor and moisture.
  7. Serve Warm: Serve the biscuits warm to enjoy their soft, cheesy texture and seasoned butter topping at their best.

Notes

  • For best results, use a baking mix like Bisquick that includes leavening agents.
  • Grate your own cheddar cheese for optimal melting and flavor.
  • Brush the biscuits immediately after baking so the butter glaze absorbs well while the biscuits are warm.
  • These biscuits freeze well; store in an airtight container and reheat in the oven before serving.
  • Adjust Old Bay seasoning to taste if you prefer a milder or stronger flavor.
