Ingredients

Scale

Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) Florida Orange Juice
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450ºF (230ºC) and place a large rimmed baking sheet on the middle rack to heat up while you prepare the Brussels sprouts.
  2. Prepare Brussels Sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts with the oil, salt, and freshly ground pepper until they are evenly coated.
  3. Roast Brussels Sprouts: Carefully remove the hot baking sheet from the oven and arrange the Brussels sprouts cut side down on the sheet. Return to the oven and roast until golden and tender, about 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking for even browning.
  4. Make Orange Honey Glaze: While the sprouts roast, combine Florida orange juice, apple cider vinegar, honey, and chili paste in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture has thickened and become syrupy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Combine and Serve: Place the roasted Brussels sprouts in a large bowl and pour the warm glaze over them. Toss well to coat all the sprouts evenly with the sauce. Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with grated lemon zest, if using, before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier glaze, increase the amount of chili paste to taste.
  • You can substitute apple cider vinegar with white wine vinegar if preferred.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with roasted meats or as a hearty side for vegetarian meals.
  • Make sure the baking sheet is hot before adding sprouts to get a better caramelized effect.
  • Lemon zest is optional but adds a fresh citrus aroma that complements the glaze well.
