It’s perfect for olive lovers craving a briny, melty snack that’s great for parties, holiday gatherings, or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 loaf French Bread

Olive Mixture

  • About 25 Spanish Queen Pimento Stuffed Olives
  • 6 ounce can of Black Olives, drained
  • 2 stalks Green Onions (scallions), thinly sliced

Other Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • 3 cups Monterey Jack Cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Prepare Olives and Onions: Roughly chop both the Spanish Queen pimento-stuffed olives and black olives. Slice the green onions into thin pieces.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the room temperature butter, mayonnaise, grated Monterey Jack cheese, chopped olives, and sliced green onions. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated into a uniform mixture.
  3. Assemble on Bread: Slice the French bread lengthwise, then spread the olive and cheese mixture thickly and evenly over the cut side of the bread.
  4. Bake: Preheat your oven to 325ºF. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and begins to brown slightly on top.
  5. Serve: Remove from oven, slice into individual servings, and serve warm as an appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • The olive cheese mixture can be prepared up to two days in advance and refrigerated until ready to use.
  • This appetizer has a strong briny olive flavor, so it may not suit those who dislike olives.
  • For best results, use freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese for a creamy melt.
  • You can experiment with different types of olives for variations in flavor.
