Ingredients

Scale

Tea and Cherry Base

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 tsp loose leaf Earl Grey tea)
  • 1 cup water
  • 45 cherries, fresh, frozen, or canned (pitted and halved)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Milk Mixture

  • 1/2 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • 12 tsp vanilla syrup (adjust to taste)

Optional

  • Ice (for iced version)
  • Foamed milk (for garnish)
  • Additional fresh cherry or sprinkle of cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Steep the Cherries and Cinnamon: In a small saucepan, add the cherries and about 1/2 cup of water. Simmer on low heat for 3-5 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices. Gently mash the cherries to extract more flavor. Add the cinnamon stick and steep for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the spice.
  2. Brew the Earl Grey tea: While the cherries are simmering, bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea in the hot water for 3-5 minutes depending on your desired strength. Remove the tea bag or strain the loose leaves once brewed.
  3. Add the milk: Pour the milk into the saucepan with the softened cherries and cinnamon. Heat gently over low heat, stirring occasionally until the milk is warmed through but not boiling.
  4. Sweeten with vanilla syrup: Stir in 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup into the milk and cherry mixture. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
  5. Combine the tea and milk: Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a cup, then strain the warm milk and cherry mixture into the same cup, pressing on the cherries gently to release all the juice and flavor. Stir well to combine all elements.
  6. Garnish and Serve: For an extra special touch, top with foamed milk or garnish with a fresh cherry or a sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve warm or pour over ice for a refreshing iced tea variant.

Notes

  • Use any type of milk you prefer, including dairy-free alternatives for a vegan option.
  • The cinnamon stick is optional but adds a lovely warm spice flavor to complement the cherries and tea.
  • Adjust vanilla syrup quantity to suit your preferred level of sweetness.
  • For iced tea, allow the beverage to cool before serving over ice.
  • Fresh or frozen cherries work best; canned cherries add sweetness but may alter the flavor slightly.
