Slider Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 3 cups shredded chicken
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, sliced
Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
Garnish
- Freshly chopped cilantro, for garnish
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Chicken Mixture & Butter: In a bowl, mix together the shredded chicken and barbecue sauce until well combined. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic salt and set both mixtures aside.
- Assemble Sliders: Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, and place the bottom halves evenly in a baking dish. Evenly spread the BBQ chicken mixture over the bottom roll halves. Layer the thinly sliced red onions and then place the cheddar cheese slices on top of the chicken.
- Top Rolls: Place the top halves of the rolls back onto the sliders to close them. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice between the sandwiches to separate individual sliders while keeping them in the pan.
- Brush with Garlic Butter: Generously brush the tops of the rolls with the prepared garlic butter mixture, allowing some to drip between the sliders for added flavor.
- Bake: Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the sliders are heated through.
- Garnish & Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro if desired, and serve the sliders warm for the best taste experience.
Notes
- Shredded chicken can be store-bought rotisserie chicken or cooked chicken breast.
- Use your favorite barbecue sauce variety to customize flavor intensity and sweetness.
- For extra crispiness, broil the sliders for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- These sliders can be assembled in advance and refrigerated before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
